高価でなくていいから、いつ見ても特別感のある飽きのこないスタイルがあればいい。

今回、新発売の世界樹万年筆「伝承」には棒状のペン軸に
四角形と六角形を削り出した2種類のモデルがあります。
それぞれ黒檀、サンダルウッド、タイガーウッドの木種で作り、
合わせて6種類のモデルを販売しております。
温かみのある天然木の感触を感じていただけるよう、単なる棒状のペン軸ではなく、
握り心地と手に馴染む形を追求してこのような形状にしました。

このシンプルにしてインパクトのあるユニークなデザインは
日本の木製玩具「こけし」と同じ製法で作りました。
まずは手に取って、掌で転がしてみてください。単純な棒状の形ではなく、
フラットな部分があります。柔らかなエッジとアールがしっくりとフィットし、
まるで手の一部になったような気がするほどの使いやすさが感じられます。
木の密度、質感がつたわる、ほどよい重量感も魅力です。

世界樹万年筆に「伝承」が誕生するまで
世界樹万年筆「伝承」の開発には、タイ通商代表の方や
タイ人アーティストたちとの出会いとさまざまな試行錯誤がありました。
そのタイの方々からインスパイアされた気づきを基に、
最初に作った試作品は四角い棒状のボディでした。
シンプルな四角い棒も美しいのですが、万年筆は書くための道具です。

握り心地も重要です。書くとき心地よく手に馴染む形状の追求から、
現在のサイズとボディデザインに落ち着きました。
なおペン先は台湾で制作し、日本で調整した中型サイズの書きやすいペン先です。
ステンレス製ですが、滑らかな書き心地で安定したインクフローを実現しました。

キャップはマグネット方式を採用。
キャップを外す瞬間から「えっ！？」と初めての感触に驚かされ、
何度でも開け閉めしたくなる誘惑にかられます。
このワクワクが止まらない不思議な心地よさの秘密はマグネットシステムにあります。
実は当初、ネジ切り部分を失くしてすり合わせ式で開け閉めすることも考えましたが、
それではいずれ摩耗して使えなくなります。
弊社の100年後でも使える万年筆という目標からも外れてしまいます。

そこで採用したのが、キャップの中にもう一つのキャップ構造を持たせた
マグネットシステムだったのです。これにより、通常のマグネット式にありがちな
ペン先のインクの乾燥を防ぐことができるようになりました。
